About Me

I have a passion for books and have been reading about one a week for the last couple of years. Over the time, I developed my own methodology to summarize the content I consume. In terms of actionable intelligence, i.e., the way the consumed material influences my decisions and actions, my personal takeaway was much higher compared to what my peers achieved. Thus, the idea of Read A Book For Me was born, to help you utilize the knowledge hidden in a book.

Background

I've started writing software about 15 years ago, and given that I really enjoy programming, I worked with many different techniques and programming languages.
I have a bachelor's degree in Applied Informatics, a bachelor's/master's degree in IT-Security and I'm currently in the final steps of earning my PhD in the latter. Being naturally curious, I also picked up a lot about machine learning, data science, and natural language processing along the way. While german is my native language, I mostly consume/produce english content in my private and professional life.

In my spare time, I've been working as a volunteer Fire-Fighter for the last 10 years, the last 4 of which as the chief of my fire station. We have about 100 dispatches a year, so there was plenty opportunity to apply both tradecraft and leadership in the field.

Naturally, both these fields lead me to pick up many books about (project) management. Whereas the software-side was a little Agile/DevOps-centric, the fire fighting kept me interested in different types of stress, motivation, training, and leadership.
