Services
The basic service I provide at Read A Book For Me is to consume some content of your choice, say, a book or a video course, and produce a high-quality summary for you.
So, what do I charge? It's rather simple:
-
Amount
In a nutshell, $1 per page or $1 per minute of video or audio. There is a minimum of 100 pages or minutes and a discount from 500 pages or minutes -- please see the examples below or contact me directly (contact@read-a-book-for-me.com). -
Access
You provide access to the content I'm supposed to summarize for you. -
(Optional) Travel Expense
If you want, I'll present the content in front of your peers for free -- you just have to pay for my travel expenses.
Just have a look at the examples below. If you don't find what you're looking for, just send me an eMail (contact@read-a-abook-for-me.com); I'm sure that we can figure something out.
Example 1: A simple book
Let's take The Mythical Man-Month by Frederick P. Brooks as an example. The last time I looked, it was available on Amazon for $30.95, or used for $12.95. It has 272 pages. Thus, you pay less than $300 bucks for me to read the book and present it to you in a crisp, concise version:$272.00 | // $1 per page for 272 pages | |
+ | $12.95 | // Cheapest version available |
--- | ---------- | |
$284.95 | // Total |
Example 2: A video course plus presentation
The Udemy-Course The Agile Samurai Bootcamp three hours and six minutes of content for (rougly) $230 -- unless you can get it for $10 at one of the frequent sales Udemy offers. Furthermore, you want me to present the content in your Berlin office to five employees. The train-ride costs me about $54.00. So, all in all, you pay about 250 bucks to save each of your five employees about three hours of their time!$186.00 | // $1 per minute for 3:06h | |
+ | $10.00 | // Discount price! |
+ | $54.90 | // Train ticket, there and back again |
--- | ---------- | |
$250.90 | // Total |
Example 3: Thick Books -- Discount
The two books Algorithms by Robert Sedgewick and Cracking the Coding Interview: 189 Programming Questions and Solutions by Gayle Laakmann McDowell are both rather thick -- 992 pages and 687 pages, respectively, and both are available for around 30 bucks. The normal rate would mean roughly $1000, respectively $700 for one of them. However, either book can be summarized reasonably well (In contrast to, say, formula collections or similarly dense content -- You get the idea). So, let's just cap it off at $500 and call it a day.
$992.00 | // $1 per page for 992 pages | |
+ | $30.00 | // Used book |
--- | ---------- | |
$1022.00 | // Before Discount | |
--- | ---------- | |
$500.00 | // Total |
Agreement
Every customer is special. Thus, it is necessary for us to agree upon what you want me to do. After you contacted me (contact@read-a-book-for-me.com), I'll present you with a list of questions like this:-
Summary Format:
Do you just need some hierarchically sorted bullet points? If so, is there a limit on the number of pages? Or do you need a 15-slide PowerPoint/PDF presentation? -
Interactivity:
Do you want close interaction between us? Or do you just want me to do my thing? -
Presenation:
How big is the audience? What does the audience want to hear and what are they supposed to learn? Is a pre-recording or a video-feed sufficient? -
Special Wishes:
Is there something you're especially interested in? Do you want the summary to have a special drift?
